It is time to turn our attention to the holiday festivities around the farm! While nothing has been confirmed yet, we can safely predict there will be 2 events to celebrate the season.

The first is the weekly theme event. It usually runs the first week of December and then again over Christmas. This is easier than a regular weekly theme and gives more tickets, so it is a good time to push yourself a little. You can find the tables here.

The second is the seasonal event and the focus of this post. You will grow a seasonal crop (ginger), mill seasonal feed (winter feed), fed it to chickens, pigs and cows to get a seasonal item (ginger cookies) and then sell ginger cookies in the market. There are 5 hot chocolate recipes in the cafe, one for each customer type, and ginger can also be used in the fish cafe with green fillets to make seaweed humus. This event typically starts the beginning of December and runs for 35 days.

Cookies are valued at $312.50 in the market, which is much lower than Halloween candy, so this is not a get rich event. Cookies harvested from stables are only dependent on the type or rarity of the stable and not level (free range gives more than regular).

In this event, you get to build a level 10 Christmas Tree decoration (+110 happiness) and buy gifts with the tokens collected from tasks and contracts.

There are 3 sets of tasks:

• Build and upgrade your Christmas Tree
• Collect cookies (This starts after you build the level 1 Christmas Tree) First 2 tasks are ginger and finger feed. These tasks give you the red, blue and green Christmas balls needed to upgrade the tree
• Collection and market tasks. These tasks unlock after you upgrade (must be opened) the Christmas tree from level 4+. They will give you lights and the star for the next upgrade. (Upgrade the tree, get a new task to complete for the next upgrade)

Market contracts and some tasks give blue and green coins which could be used to buy random present boxes (main tree materials and seaweed fertilizer).

The key things you can do to prepare are:

• A healthy stock of feed. This is a 35 day event with lots of potential for high cash are presents.
• Upgrade fields and mills if you are on the fence. The fields are the bottleneck, so place priority here. Stables are based on type, so a level 1 chicken has the same value as a level 10. If your humus supply is low, you can also consider upgrading your composter.
• Save green fish fillets for seaweed humus. This now gets a little interesting because green fillets can be used for seaweed fertilizer in combination with the bakery. However, you can make seaweed fertilizer from Jan to Sept. Seaweed humus only has a 7 week window in the year.
• If you use the merchant for meadow items, stock up on cocoa, because the 5 recipes use 25 cookies, 25 cocoa (not powder), and then apples (40), cherries (10), almond (15), peaches (35) or eggs (100), depending on the client. (Level 3 happiness of 134.)
