Preparing for Winter Wonderland

Update - The Winter Seasonal Event has been confirmed with some small changes. The only one they let me know about is that the Tree from last year will not be part of this year so users will not be able to finish last years. The event will start Dec 3rd and run into the New Year.

We have just come out of Halloween and the first snow of the season is melting away outside as I type this. Based off of last year, if Winter Wonderland happens again (I think chances are high), there are a few things you can do to help prepare yourself.

Now, to confuse things, there were/are 2 Winter Wonderland events.

The first is the weekly theme event. The last 2 years, Big Farm ran it twice. This is easier than a regular weekly theme and gives more tickets, so it is a good time to push yourself a little. You can find the tables here.

The second is the seasonal event and the focus of this post. You grew a seasonal crop (ginger), milled seasonal feed (winter feed), fed it to chickens, pigs and cows to get a seasonal item (ginger cookies) and then sold said item in the market or used it in the cafe (5 hot chocolate recipes). Ginger could also be used with green fillets to make seaweed humus. It started the beginning of December and ran till the beginning of January for 42 days.

Cookies were valued at $312.50 in the market compared to the $1000 from Halloween, so this is not a get rich event. The other large change is that stables gave cookies based on type and not level and type.

What made this event fun was that you got to build a 10 level Christmas Tree decoration (+110 happiness) and gifts.

There were 3 sets of tasks:

Market contracts and some tasks would also give blue and green coins which could be used to buy random present boxes (main tree materials and seaweed fertilizer). The fun thing about this one was that every crop except ginger would give icicles used to upgrade the tree, so you had to grow seasonal crops and conventional crops.

The key things you can do to prepare are:

For reference, here is the Winter Wonderland post from last year on Facebook.
