Horses

On June 24, 2025 horses were introduced as a new stable and supply chain in the game, to all players level 42 and above. On this page, I will do a quick break down of horses and their features, and keep updating things as more info becomes available.

I would like to say a huge Thank You! to the team at Big Farm who gave me a sneak peak of horses and some details on them.

Intro

Horses are unlocked at level 42. They are a low yield (24 per level 1 stable), slow (4hrs), high profit (~$1000+ in profit per horse) stable, that makes a lot of dung. They will be the best stable on your farm. There are regular, fancy, and premium stables, along with all 7 feeds. There are 8 levels of building visuals and some fun animations. When fully leveled up, they are impressive buildings.

Quest Line

Like every stable, there is an introduction questline. This one is 'bad'. It wants you to start by building the stable and then walk through making feed while your stable is empty. Start making feed and ignore the quest line. You will passively finish all the quests as you play. Finishing the quest line will give you a profile picture.

It is going to take at least 7.5 hours to collect your first horses. They show up in contracts long before that.

If you want to get going instantly, see Sales and Packages below.

Feed

Horse feed is made in the mill from apples and dandelions, taking 90 mins (level 1) to 26 mins (level 12). My rating system for feed efficiency is (lower number is better) pigs 8.6, cows 9.5, goats/ducks 10.5, horses 11.9, sheep 15.8, rabbits 23.3. This puts horses around the middle. (You can almost feed 3 pigs in the same mill time as one rabbit.)

Selling Your Horses

Horses sell for more than it costs to make them (0 happiness)! Big Farm's goal was to make them generous, desirable, and an improvement to your farm. With the preliminary market data, and saving you a ton of boring math, horses are by far the most profitable stable on your farm.

To start, horses will only be for sale in market contracts, at a reduced demand, to not overwhelm mature farms. In the future, the demand for horses will go up and include ship and train cargo.

Just like wool, you can't buy horses in the barn.

Horses sell for $1,020 (high xp) or $1,500 (high value) in the market and $350 in the barn. Market demand seems to be 10 per contract for farms below level 100, and 10/15/20/25 for farms over level 100. Starting production of horses costs $801 at 0 happiness, and feed is $1,203.

How Many Horses?

Many players are asking how many horses they are going to need. Early data is looking like 230 - 270 per 100 contacts level 100+ (140 per 100 contracts for lower level) Apples and pigs would compare at 5000 per 100 contacts, cheese at 2000 per 100 contracts. That is a lot of horses. A lot of people are very discouraged about the low yield and overwhelming demand in contracts.

Maybe a good way to look at it is what would it be like if you lost all your cows and suddenly had to start over with a single level 1 cow. It would be really hard until you have multiple cows that are leveled up and have mascots. Give your farm some time to grow and adjust.

Mascots

There are some issues with mascots. The image is not displaying properly and they are not displaying in your barn correctly.

-------------------

Horse mascots are available in mascot chests. There are 4 variants: +42 dandelions, 27 lambs lettuce, 95 apples, and 9 wheat. A 20% boost is huge, so use your saved up mascot coins for a horse mascot. If you passionately dislike dream farm, keep an eye on the site for a mindless dream farm strategy coming soon.

All The Pieces

A horse show animal has not been mentioned yet, but I believe the full ecosystem will be implemented. Train and Ship orders (and 100% market demand) sounds like they will be implemented in 3-6 weeks based on how the players are adjusting. My impression is that a co-op project will be in the far future. Boosters have not appeared yet and are most likely tied to the ship. Hot dogs and carnival tickets are confirmed tested and ready to go. There are no library books at this time.

Co-ops

There is going to be some tensions for a while as horses will be valuable to players farm, needed to keep the market flowing, and not in a co-op project. A good leader will make their members' farms better and encourage horses, even if it means the co-op will take a hit in performance for a while.

Flexible Money

Big Farm said there was a new flexible space feature coming to the game. They know that horses will take land and it's really hard to expand. They didn't want players excluded from horses because they lacked space.

That feature didn't make it into this update. It is still in Quality Assurance Testing. Don't shoot the messenger. To minimize the pain of having no place to place your stable, they will be having a large land sale, possibly the largest discount ever seen (which is pointless if you don't have the materials.)

At this point, you may be fuming. I get it. I was a little shocked and taken back when I found out. It sucks.

I don't believe that the flexibility feature being delayed wasn't intentional. However, I don't hold it against them and I'm honestly not upset. Big Farm is first and foremost a business. If you spend time and money on development, it needs to return a positive investment. So we have big sales on land and stables to get things going, and turn a profit. I'm okay with that. I can wait for a week or two.

My farm is in such a place that I will just temp in 2 stables for a week or two and run negative happiness. I would also be okay with just dumping horse contracts. I have gold saved up from offer walls and gold flowers. I'm really debating a premium or fancy stable because a level 1 premium is almost the same as a level 8 regular. Level 7+ needs buckets, and I don't have a lot of those. It will all depend on the sales.

I think it's okay to be ticked, but we need to stop and ask if we can deal with a little delay and profit making so they keep improving and expanding the game. I think it is very reasonable to send support or the Community Management team (Discord or Messenger) a polite and succinct message letting them know you don't have land and are really upset about not being able to build horses.

I know what the flexible space feature is and I love it! It could be a game changer, especially for small to medium farms. We just need a little patience.

Packages and Sale

There will be a massive land sale. Land sales usually come with the best gold deals as well.

I know there will be packages in game and on the community site, but I don't know the pricing. I know the starting package is a level 2 premium stable, gold, additional profile picture, and 40 seaweed horse feed for 6 Euros. As the package increases in cost, the horse stable is a higher level.

My math brain is thinking that this may not be a good deal if you are looking at pure gold costs and no perks, put it will also depend on what packages are available.

There will be a mini package for profile picture and potent feed.

Finally, exclusively on the community site, you can buy a level 12 premium horse stable with feed, the profile picture, and some gold in a hefty package. The claim is that this is a very generous and deeply discounted package, and without the raw data, it is hard to know for sure, but my preliminary hunch is that if you are going to max out a premium horse, this is by far the best way to do it.

It's Going To Be OK

Horses are going to be good for your farm. Big Farm has given us a new box to play with, which will change when the land flexibility feature comes out, and again when they run the market, ship, and train at full capacity. The easiest thing for right now may be to stock up on feed while dumping horse contracts.
